I am a Ph.D. candidate in the department of Political
Science at the University of California, Davis. I received my bachelors
degree in Spanish with a minor in Biology from UC Davis. My
dissertation examines the relationship between civil war and
international conflict. It addresses the conditions under which civil wars
lead to international conflict, as well as the conditions under which
international conflict leads to the outbreak of civil war. I received
a dissertation improvement grant from the Institute of Governmental
Affairs, which aided me in the creation of an original data set on the
religious affiliation of political leaders and civil war opposition
groups during the post-WWII period. More detailed information regarding my dissertation and future research can be found here.
My research and teaching interests are in the areas of international
relations and political methodology, with emphasis on international
conflict and the international aspects of civil wars. More detailed information regarding my teaching can be found here.
